Believing That Gut Feeling Again

I'm not sure how much truth is in the feelings I felt today, and I'm a little embarrassed to post it. I would like to believe that we are finally happy. I know that a streak of three days of nothing but happiness, can't exactly prove me right, but I couldn't help but indulge in our happiness.

This morning went pretty well, as far as rehearsal goes. We started learning work, which meant we are starting to turn the notch up for the rookies. Even with that, everyone was learning work at a decent pace, especially for the first day. I'm pretty confident with where we are right now. We only have 2 new girls. Jaelynn came by with Erik to visit, and it was really nice seeing her in that environment again.. I wish things weren't the way they were, but I can only do so much and keep moving. I just might try again, but I don't want to ride up her butt about rejoining. So maybe just once more. After rehearsal, I hit up the lover because I have been dying to see him. Apparently, the maid was still home and finding reasons to stay longer. While waiting, I made my way to 7-11 where I bought myself a slurpee and two taquitos. Finally, when I was able to go over his hosue when the coast was clear, I have him one taquito and most of the slurpee. [it started to melt!] Minus a scare in the form of a knocking at the door WHICH TURNED OUT TO BE FRANCIS, everything in this day had my mind and heart in the state on being content. Three days of this and I don't know whether or not to believe my gut feeling. Photo is of another flag design I tried to make for our guard this morning. It's crap, I know.

Captain? I Am & Swimming? I'm Up For It

Today felt like our first legitimate practice. I haven't done anything lately, so I found myself breathing heavily and a little out of shape. A new girl came today, and teaching her with the other four of us went the closest it could be to "smoothly". I feel like I'm adapting more into this role as captain because giving commands or leading flag basics doesn't make me too nervous anymore. It still does, but at a much more comfortable level. Although I miss a few people who are gone and a new girl quit today, I'm still moving forward. In my role, I aspire to be the best leader I can be and give these girls the greatest experiences as a guard member. I want them to feel what I've felt in my years experiences. Sure, there are times when I hate it, but I know without it, I'm slightly lost. The new girl has a boyfriend in the band and I wished for myself, "Dang I wish my boyprend was here, too!"

Later, after practice, I thought he wasn't coming by. While I was in the chorus room, I turned around and there he was standing in the middle room! Anything else on my mind such as guard, practices, or friends completely left my conscience. My mind dropped into a state where my one and only goal was to get over there and hug him so tightly. It was the same feeling as from last night and I loved it. We ended up going swimming at Deejay's house with Ana and Emily which was fun, to say the least. I like this idea of hanging out altogether. I mean, based on my views of today, it worked out. Maybe this is possible. Photo is of a flag design we might need, considering how our instructor had to quit. We're on our own.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY MR. VANGELDREN!!!!! :D

Hrmm today was a pretty long day.. it was a good one, too, though! Unfortunately I had to wake up at like 8:30 because report time to the high school was 10AM. We practiced from 10 - 1:30PM and I'm really proud to say that I somewhat enjoyed it.. I think I had a little sarcasm in me that pulled me through- in the way that I was hyper and didn't care enough to brood. When we earned ourselves two laps for not listening to directions, I gladly ran them laps! I endured pretty well, if I may add! After surviving practice, we actually had enough free time to get ready and eat. During warm-up, the guard wasn' having the greatest time because we had just learned the opening and closer dances that morning! Tosses weren't being caught correctly and some of us were having issues with our dresses. The custume is very lengthy and it gets in the way a lot :( However, our show was veryy good! I will specifically say that it was very good confidence- wise. Personally, I was strong about about 98% of the show! Whether I messed up or not, I kept on pushing! I like where we are right now, because some of the girls are finally understanding how to perform! woot! go team haha We ended up getting 3rd out of 3, but at the same time, we would have executed competition, had there been any. The two bands before us who won were Morris Knolls and Morris Hills, who are both open bands. So technically, WE WON. haha

It's Only Been Three Days

One of the only downfalls of today was the craptastic rehearsal I had tonight. PJ came late and even with that, it felt even longer than usual. I will be honest and blame it on the fact that I didn't eat anything today. That fact is chained to the fact that we had a Pep Rally today. Band kids were excused during period 6 which was my lunch period. I personally decided not to go, and so I never got food. I expected to get food after school, but that failed. I hung out with him after school and chilled at his house. Even though it has only been three days, I've been loving every second of it. Its kind of crazy, hiding from the world, but at the same time not. It's like playing Mission Impossible! XD The past three days have been the best, and you are the biggest distraction in my head. :) Oh, I also misplaced my wallet today..so I'm kind of irritated about that. I can only hope that it's either in the band room, guard closet, or in my locker, if I remember correctly!

So All We Have To Do Is Get Through Practice, Right?

That Tuesday, Belleville's colorguard had everything to look forward to. All we had to do was get through a straight 9AM-5PM and our reward was at hand. We would be swimming in Kelly's relaxing pool after a hard days work and making t-shirts. Easy, right? Thats what I thought, too.
That day was a tough one. We were out on the field doing drill and putting new saber work with it. There is this one part of the drill at the end of the first number where the saber line tosses a quad while moving quickly into a diagonal. The order is Jaelynn, Me, Shannon, and Regina. From what I heard, Shannon tosses her quad and was still moving back, while Regina who was behind her, tosses and stopped in place. I turn around to find a bleeding forehead on my Captain. Everyone on the field stood quietly, watching. Apparently, Shannon and Regina's sabres collided in the air and one hit her. It was pretty crazy. I thought to myself, "Wow, I thought today was going to be easy. I didn't know bloodshed was part of it." Apparently she came back a while later after finding medical assistance ready to continue practice. She is such a trooper!

We eventually got through the day and relaxed at Kelly's house and in her pool. When I changed in the bathroom, she had a full-sized mirror which allowed me to examine my amazing tan lines. It was as if I wore a bodysuit ll summer! Shirt making was hectic, trying to find room.. but hey we got it done.

Beginning Le Sabre!

As discussed in the previous post, I have begun band camp. This day was day numero 2. I can't say anything was too different but the weather sure was the same! HOT. HOT. and. HOT >.> All I can tell you is that my tanlines are improving and hey, theres nothing we can do about it is there? On that Tuesday, I remember being able to feel the heat burning my skin tone 2 shades darker than it already was. I knew that when I would get home and look in the mirror before jumping into the shower, I would find a greater contrast in what my skin looks like now to what it did only three days ago. Oh, I also started spinning sabre that night as well! Our instructors came that night and pulled us separate from the rest of the guard. Shannon, Jaelynn, Regina, and I were about to begin weapon basics. We stood in a small block of four, in first position, with best posture possible. I borrowed an extra pair of Shannon's guard gloves, being that I lost my own pair earlier into last season. Booyyyyyyy did those glove smell bad! They've been through seasons of lots of sweat! Blegh, thinking of it doesn't give me a good feeling. I stood in the back line, with my sabre at a good left flat, as we began to do basics. PJ only asked for one count, but I still felt that nervous butterflies feeling in my stomach. It was not that I had never practiced with a sabre before, but it was the first actual practice where I was spinning with others and not at home. Also, as I stood in the back I look at the other three girls and thought, "Wow, it feel like our first day all over again..". Despite how long any of us had been spinning, we were all in the same scenario right now. We were all equally quiet; no egos were shooting into the sky, and no one was being a smart ass. At first, he said to do simple spins. Then, he moved up to blade tosses (which I love!) singles, doubles, then triples. NEXT, we jumped to regular tosses: singles, doubles, triples, quads, fives, sixes.. oh then we stopped there because we couldn't go any higher. haha. I just thought it was crazy how he was making us do all that in one day! We're spinning sabre in this year's show, and all I can hope for is to be as good as possible!
